Rehabilitation Counseling and Counselor Education

Benita Lewis is a second year doctoral student in the Rehabilitation Counseling and Counselor Education Program. As PFMF first year cohort member, she heeded the call to begin gaining experience teaching on the college level. While her discipline requires counselor educators to earn the PhD to teach master's level students, she applied for an adjunct instructor position at Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC). She is currently teaching face to face and online courses in early child courses at GTCC.

Bioinformatics for Investigating and Engineering Microbiomes

I was selected for the Integrative Bioinformatics for Investigating and Engineering Microbiomes, IBIEM fellowship in the latter part of summer 2018. IBIEM fellowship is an interdisciplinary graduate training program between Duke University and North Carolina A&T State University which brings together scientists from various fields with an interest in microbiome research.

Adjunct Teaching Position

I successfully obtained a part-time Adjunct Teaching Position in the Department of Applied Engineering Technology (AET) starting in the Spring of 2019. One of the IDP goals was to secure co-instructors position for the Spring of 2019. Also, I served as a Peer Reviewer for a manuscript in Adult Learning along with two more professors.
